I have made about half a dozen pieces of sushi and my girlies are having fun playing with them.  Here is the "snack" they brought me this afternoon. In the larger compartment: salmon, egg, crabstick, eel, tuna and clam.In the smaller compartment: shrimp and octopus. Time to move onto rolled sushi and dim sum.

I finished the set and found my pashmina shawl.  I'm definitely going to use bamboo blended yarn again.  In fact I've already started another hat with the same yarn and color.  Senior Chief asked me to make one for his Mom when I showed him the set; purple is her favorite color.

I found a beautiful bamboo, wool, and angora blended yarn in echinacea.  So, my sushi is now on hold while I knit up a hat and fingerless mitt set.  The hat is done and I'm almost finished with the first fingerless mitt.  I think it's time for me to take a break from knitting and dig through my closet in search of a lost pashmina shawl that might match the set.

...we went camping with friends.  Or at least that was the plan; a 3 day 2 night campout.  On Thursday I had a migraine and didn't feel like camping.  The heat index of 111 wasn't helping.  By late evening I was feeling a bit better and took my littles to the campsite. ...through the garden after a much needed rain.   The mud and water squishing through my toes brings me joy.  The forecast calls for scattered thunder storms for the next 3 days. I hope and pray we get rain every day; we need it. Here I stand looking at my tomatoes which seem brighter after the rain shower.  I am thankful I won't have to water them today.

...with a little girl who can't sleep.  She asked me to snuggle her and requested to use the quilt made by mamalia.  My little girl said she can feel the love wrapped around her with the quilt.  I am thankful for the time alone with my girl and a wonderful friend and her gift.

I got some yummy new yarns from The Knitting Sisters the other day.  One of the skeins that I got went almost instantly on my needles.  This one is silk/merino extrafine wool from Manos del Uruguay a non-profit organization that helps bring rural women economic and social opportunities.  I think I will be getting some more; it glides through my fingers and will keep the wearer quite warm this

I think my littlest girlie has been listening to her brothers and their Star Wars obsession a bit too much. She brought me her camera with a bunch of "womp rat" pictures she wanted to share with me. I can understand her thinking it was some kind of rat climbing out of the storm drain; a very ratty thing to be doing. Our friends got some little chicks the other day and invited us over to meet them. They are about 4 days old and so cute! I couldn't tell you what the breeds of the chicks are; though our friends did tell us. We will have to learn them because my littles want to visit them often.

My boys will be off to camp next week so this week we are getting everything together. The camp gear was pulled down, inspected and inventoried. We celebrated a friend’s birthday last weekend and had an awesome time. The birthday girl loves mermaids and the color aquamarine. It is not just aqua. Yesterday I sat and watched several robins digging worms out of my garden. Most of them were young and very skittish. Every noise and movement sent them flying for cover. Then they would return and dig some more. Watching them I remembered this pattern that I saw at the purl bee. So taking a break from little hats I knitted up a nest and some eggs last night.
